Latest news from Panaz - Shield used as principal cubicle curtain

Shield used as principal cubicle curtain

Panaz UK are very happy to report that the innovative fabric, developed by the Panaz research team, to assist in combating hospital acquired infection has been used in the Waukesha Memorial Hospital in the USA.

This is the first U.S. hospital to use Shield infection control fabrics in virtually all of its entire facility. More than 300 patient rooms and cubicles will have a new custom design created by the InPrO and Panaz design teams.
Brian Hoeppner, Director of Environmental Services at Waukesha Memorial, said that installing Shield has allowed the hospital to see what he termed “transparent” labour savings.
The hospital reported that “When we got a call for dealing with an isolation situation, I used to dispatch staff – by taking them off of an assigned task – and send them to switch out the privacy curtain. Now, since the Shield curtains are serviceable in place, it cuts down on the time needed to deal with curtain cleaning.”
The Shield curtains are cleaned by a wipe-down with a hospital-grade germicidal solution over the fabric’s entire “reach zone.”
Hoeppner added that simple cleaning of Shield curtains also means there’s no need for staff to take the time to get a ladder, and reduces risk of work-related injuries of slips and reaching strains from physically removing and replacing curtains. Upon reflection, Hoeppner also offered that there will be less need to launder curtains, which is another transparent savings.
Inpro Corporation is the exclusive distributor of Shield by Panaz tm fabrics in the USA.
