Panaz Rugby in Dubai

Rollie Attard started his rugby career at the age of 5 playing for Fylde RFC in their mini-rugby team. He moved on to captain his school team at St Puis X Prep School up until the age of 11 when he moved school to St Mary’s Hall, the feeder school for Stonyhurst College in the Lancashire Ribble Valley. There he continued to play rugby until he left at 18. Although for most of his final year he played at Thronton Cleveleys RFC near Blackpool, where he was introduced to Men’s standard rugby and the benefits of the social game! From then he went on to play at Leeds University and in his first year was responsible for creating and running his halls of residence intra-mural team. He was captain of this team and led them to a number of victories over much more drilled and prepared sides who had been playing together as a team for much longer. In his second year, after leaving halls, he was elected Sports Representative for the Leeds University Business School (LUBS). This role put him in charge of all the sports teams associated with the Business School, Netball, Football and Rugby. After creating and starting both the Netball and Rugby teams he elected a Netball captain who was given authority over the team, giving him time to specialise in the Rugby. Again Captain, he led the team, who were kindly sponsored by the people at ‘Panaz Ltd’, to again another successful season. Upon his departure to Dubai for a year in industry program he left the team in the hands of the succeeding Sports Representative and keeps updated on its successful progress. During his placement in Dubai he has started playing at the Dubai Exiles RFC. This has led to playing in teams at a high level including representing the Dubai Exiles in the Dubai Rugby Sevens competition recently (picture).
