Panaz CEO presented with OBE at Buckingham Palace
At an Investiture conducted by HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday March the 10th, Panaz CEO Anthony (Tony) Attard was presented with the award of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his services to the UK textile industry and international trade.
Tony is the founder and Group Chief Executive of Lancashire-based Panaz Limited, where he has spearheaded the design and technical advancement of flame retardant fabrics for the worldwide hospitality, leisure, cruise ship and healthcare sectors. Formed in 1986, the company now exports to 46 countries, operating through a global network of agents and subsidiary companies, and the award to Mr Attard acknowledges his contribution to the development of British design and commerce in the worldwide contract furnishing sector over the last two decades.
Returning home after the ceremony, Tony Attard, OBE reflected on his award and on the future of his industry. ‘British furnishing design has a long tradition of innovation and quality, and I’m not alone in feeling passionate about its heritage. This honour is a tribute to all those with whom I work – and have worked in the past – to ensure that the very best of British design continues to be recognised around the world.’
Aged 51, Tony Attard lives with his family in Grimsargh, near Preston. He was accompanied to the Investiture at Buckingham Palace by his wife Pat and sons Simon, Rollie and Max.
